Fully grown barley compared to fully grown wheat

Barley is a plant added by Natura. This plant can replaces a player's usual wheat farm as a more efficient food source. However, as the Barley Seeds cannot be used in recipes requiring Seeds, it should not be relied on for crafting material.

Barley is used to create bread in a more efficient manner. While three barley can be crafted into bread in the same way that wheat can, one barley in the crafting grid will produce one flour, which can be baked in a furnace to produce one bread. This makes baking bread nearly three times as efficient as the Vanilla Minecraft method. This can also be done using Wheat, making the crafting recipe of three wheat entirely obsolete.

Barley is found naturally in any biome that contains dirt/grass blocks. Punching wild barley once yields some barley as well as a couple of seeds. Barley spawns in a similar pattern to Pumpkins.

Notes Edit

  • Barley is affected by Bone Meal as any Vanilla farmable plant is, requiring 2-3 bone meal to fully mature a crop.
  • Barley grows slightly faster than wheat.
  • Fully grown barley drops 1 seed about 60% of the time and 2-3 40% of the time
  • Barley can be used like wheat to breed animals, but will not make them follow.
