Hey everyone, this thread is about the page headers I often find from page to page and the inconsistencies between them. I often find the word "Usage" in place of "Uses" (which is what I use) and "Recipes" or "Recipe" instead of "Crafting" (which is also what I use) I have been converting the ones I find that are inconsistent with the word usage of "Uses" and "Crafting." I was wondering if we should have a limited set of headers that are pre-determined for pages that should be followed and filled out if at all possible, that way the pages are to the point and there is only one "layout" that needs to be learned by readers. Due to the lack of response, I am adding additional information to this thread along with actual suggested headers to be included, but not required, in pages. These headers should be followed with their wording to keep pages in-line with each other assuming the header is as intended for the information.
Note: Anything in parentheses are meant as a comment and are not part of the header name
- For Blocks/Items
- Obtaining
- Crafting
- Uses
- For Mobs (This includes boss mobs)
- Spawn
- Behavior (If multiple attacks are present [i.e.: bosses], list them as sub-headers here)
- Taming
- Breeding
- Loot
- For Biomes
- Description (This is meant to be more in-depth detail of the biome than top of page brief info)
- Mobs
- Special Features (Intended for biome-specific structures or other notable consistent generations)
- For Structures
- Description (This is meant to be more in-depth detail of the structure than top of page brief info)
- Mobs
- Special Features
- Walkthrough
- Loot
- For All (These would appear in this order at the bottom of a page)
- Bugs
- Trivia
- Gallery
- Video Gallery (This could be combined with the normal gallery if little videos are present)
- History (Should only appear for pages that have been changed over Hexxit versions)
Feel free to suggest additional ones or clarification on what a header would be used for. I would like to get this thread finalized on header names so this standardization can start being implemented on the wiki. Kalbintion (Talk) 23:38, February 7, 2014 (UTC)
I would suggest "History" header like almost all other game wikis (and also history template maybe?), because some people edit a page without realizing their hexxit is outdated. funAlways (Message Me!) 11:12, February 8, 2014 (UTC)
I agree to your history field, there are definitely some pages that require it. It may also be worthy to use the "History" section for "future-proofing" on readers who are using the mod at a different version (TC comes to mind about moving liquids via clicking) Kalbintion (Talk) 22:12, March 3, 2014 (UTC)
