The Monking is a formidable boss added by Better Dungeons mod that can occasionally be found on or near the BigTree.
Appearance
He is a 3-block tall monkey with long arms. His melee attack alone does not deal much damage, but there will be a small explosion upon impact, which can throw the player approximately 10 blocks in the air. Thus, most of the damage that comes from fighting the Monking is due to fall damage.
Tactics
Feather Falling or Cloud Boots (highly enchanted for protection) are recommended.
Golden Feathers work too.
When fighting the monking it is recommended to hit in the hind/rear end, (highlighted in red) hitting it there will multiply your damage by x10. However each hit will make the Monking jump and fall behind the player so watch your back (sometimes it falls in front of the player).
Drops
Upon death, he drops
- Monking Sword
Notes
- He can be spawned with his own "spawn egg," using item 7607:501.
- He will occasionally restore 1 hitpoint to himself.
- He will attack any hostile mob within its range, except for creepers. However, it will attack Alien Creepers.
