Nether City overview — Overview of a Nether City

Nether Cities are huge cities that are made of Nether Brick and decorated with glowstone. They house Pigmen which are seperate from their Zombie Pigman counter-parts. Pigmen can only spawn through limited spawners.

Buildings

The Nether Cities boast huge houses/apartments. There are several type of buildings such as blacksmiths, prison cells, apartments as well as the Boss Tower.

Blacksmiths

While entering the Blacksmith buildings, you can find chests containing loot. As well as finding many different items and tools.

Houses

Three story houses that come in different makes and models. Some boast trap rooms, balconies, paintings, some room containing different color wools.

Prisons

These prison cells have chests containing armor and weapons. You can may find Pigman trapped in cells made of Nether brick fences and Nether bricks.

Boss Tower

These are four story buildings that hold two Pig Mages and pigman spawns randomly.

Huts

Very small, one-story buildings that contains soul sand and netherwarts on the porch. Inside of these Huts may contain a chest with several items that can be looted.

Enchanting Tower

This tower contains large open areas that have water and Lapis Lazuli blocks whilst the enchanting table on top.

Mine

Large open structure that contains rails, powered rails, activator rails and a minecart.

Treasure Room

A two-story building containg many paintings, item frames including the loot placed inside of the frames.

Note that there is also a Town Square with which is filled with Obsidian and a Glowstone Tree structure.

Strategies and Battle Tactics

To clear out the city, it is highly recommended to have a highly protective full set of enchanted armor as all pigmen turn hostile and simultaneously strike, causing you tons of damage using there bows, spears, swords. The Pig healer will use a healing staff to heal other pigmen, whilst the Pig mage uses magical attacks with a Life steal effect, and summoning the undead to attack you. Ranged weapons are recommended as a secondary to pick out shieldless enemies, however a powerful melee weapon still work against all pigmens, since they are equiped with Iron, Gold and Diamond Armor

Notes/Trivia

There are many furnaces and dispensers that can only be crafted with cobblestone, unobtainable in the Nether. This leads to the assumption in the theory that all pigmens evolved from pigs in the Overworld, since they get trapped in the Nether, resulting the adaptation of the pig species, branching out a new species known as the pigmen.
The buildings may contain beds. Attempting to sleep in bed resulting it to explode.
The Pigman have mini mines, containing rails and minecarts, which require parts from the Overworld.
Because of spawning rules Nether cities may distort nether forteresses, therefore making them more difficult to navigate.
