Portal is a technical block added by vanilla Minecraft. It is the portal seen when attempting to enter a Nether portal. It can only be obtained using commands or the Not Enough Items mod. When it is exposed to a block update (such as redstone wire changes or blocks being placed or destroyed), it will disappear. One block is sufficient to enter the Nether.
It can randomly spawn Zombie Pigmen, making Overworld gold farms possible.
