Chicobos are baby Chocobos. They can be bred by using a Golden Gysahl or a Loverly Gysahl.
Breeding[]
Sometimes a Chicobo can be a different color than its parents due to the Chocobo mutation chain, which can be read about in the Chocopedia. This mutation happens when you give two Chocobos Loverly Gysahls, (20% chance of mutation) or Golden Gysahls (50% chance). As Chocobos go down the mutation chain, they gain better abilities.

To instantly grow a Chicobo to an adult feed it a Gysahl Cake.
To get a Chicobo to consume a Gysahl Cake, one must first tame the Chicobo as all Chicobos are wild and untamed. Otherwise, it will not accept the Gysahl Cake.
Naming[]
Naming the Chicobo and making the Chicobo follow, wander, or stay requires a Chocopedia.
To make the name visible:
- Right-click (or the default "Use Item" key) on the Chicobo or Chocobo with a Chocopedia; this will open an Interface.
- If you do not like the current Name, enter a new one (Click the rename button).
- Click "Name Hidden" to change it to "Name Shown".
- Click "Confirm" to finalize
