*Please note this is not for a vanilla Minecraft install of Optifine. This is for using Optifine with Hexxit.

Optifine is a mod to Minecraft dedicated tobisucks increasing performance of the game. This tutorial is dedicated to using optifine with Hexxit as quickly as possible and in as few steps as possible.

Required Downloads/Programs

One of the following versions. For more information, see Optifine FAQ's first QA.

Optifine 1.5.2 HD D5 Optifine 1.5.2 HD D5

One of the following programs

WinRAR 7Zip IZArc

Requires Pre-steps

Hexxit and the launcher should be closed
Install WinRAR, 7Zip, IZArc, or similar program
Unzip Optifine

Windows XP

Click the Start button
Click "Run"
- Alternatively, these two steps can be combined by pressing the ⊞ WindowsR
Type in "%appdata%\.technic\modpacks\hexxit\bin"
Press Enter
Go to "Following Steps" section

Windows Vista/7/8/10

The instructions from Windows XP can be used if the Run menu item is available

Click the Start button
Enter %appdata% in the search
Click on result
Click on 'Roaming'
Click on '.technic'
Click on 'modpacks'
Click on 'Hexxit'
Click on 'bin'
- Alternatively, these steps can be combined by pressing the ⊞ WindowsR
Go to "Following Steps" section

Following Steps

Open Modpack.jar using WinRAR, 7Zip, or similar program
Copy all Files from your Optifine/Bin folder into the modpack.jar
- It may ask you to overwrite files. Click Yes To All to accept all files, if the program doesn't offer this, simply use the Yes button.
Start normally

Troubleshooting

In the event the game does not load, or does not work properly. The folder "META-INF" inside the Modpack.jar may need to be deleted.
If you attempted to download a version other than those provided on this tutorial, it may not work properly.
If attempting to use a light version of Optifine, it will never work with the modpack due to forge mod loader (FML) incompatibilities.
Warning: Optifine can cause visual oddities with the following mods
- Tinkers' Construct
- Armor Bar
